- Netherlands A defeats Italy, but falls short against Sweden

In the first match of the T10 European Cricket Championship, Netherlands A easily put Italy aside. Despite a lightning start, the Italians did not get beyond 90/8. Clayton Floyd excelled both bowling and batting for the Dutch team. A six-overer game against Sweden was lost 109-86.
Italy raced to 53/0 in three overs (Zain Naqvi 48 off eighteen balls). With two fantastic overs, Clayton Floyd (3-4!) brought Netherlands A back in the game and when Saqib Zulfiqar (3-22) was also successful, it was 68/3. In the last seven overs, Italy only made 37 runs.
Although Clayton Floyd could have been run out twice, he took advantage of his good fortune and remained 50 not out off twenty balls (7x6). In terms of strike rate, Noah Croes even got the better of him him with 28 not out off seven balls.
Sweden
In the second game, Sweden proved to be a stronger opponent. The Netherlands chose to field in the match that was shortened to six overs. That didn't work out well; mainly thanks to Share Ali (50 not out from eighteen balls), Sweden (109/2/6) made more than eighteen runs per over. Clayton Floyd took 2-33.
40/2 after two overs (!) was a promising start, but even for the respected Dutch batting line-up, 109 proved to be too high a mountain to climb. The strike rate had to average 300 per batsman, but the Swede Advait Dhabe (3-8) did not cooperate.
The next T10 will be on Sunday 13 October at 4.30 pm. Follow it here: https://www.ecn.cricket/scores-fixtures/scorecard/netherlands-xi-vs-jersey-live-scores-nedje10132024251526
