- ProSeries: Levitt defies left-handers with match-winning 133

The first meeting in the Fairtree Men’s ProSeries turned into a fantastic nail-biter. The Seafarers seemed content with their solid 298/8 off 50 overs, but Michael Levitt kickstarted the Hurricanes’ innings with a magnificent 133.
In the first innings the three left-handers Vikram Singh (82), Cedric de Lange (48), and Shariz Ahmad (61 not out) particularly caught the eye -- after a T20 World Cup without any Dutch left-handers. Vikram and De Lange even made a 125 partnership for the first wicket. Sebastiaan Braat (5-56) and Clayton Floyd (3-62) stood out as bowlers.
David Rushmere (35), Noah Croes (40) and Ryan Klein (42) contributed significantly to the Hurricanes' response, but the real power came – after a lean patch – from opening batsman Michael Levitt. Uncharacteristically, the VCC player hit no sixes, but he did hit seventeen fours in his 129-ball innings. Although he was eliminated in the fortieth over, Sebastiaan Braat (13 not out off seven balls) carried his team over the finish line in the final over.
The next Fairtree ProSeries match will be on May 12 at Hermes DVS in Schiedam, starting at 11:00 AM.
